Everest trekking offers you
great opportunity to have unique experience. The
Everest area is situated in eastern Nepal. It is
protected by the Sagarmatha National Park,
established in 1976 with an area of 1148 square
kilometers. The park is largely composed of the
rugged terrain and gorges of the high Himalayas.
Altitude ranges from 2845 meters above sea level
(9,330ft) to the top of the world, Mt. Everest
at 8848 meters (29,028ft). Mount Everest, the
highest mountain in the world, which is known in
Nepal as "Sagarmatha" the goddess mother of the
world, has long been the greatest attraction for
nature lovers and trekkers alike. Solukhumbu,
the heartland of the Everest Region and an
integral part of the Himalayan mystique, thus
provides a welcome destination for these
adventurers.
Everest Base Camp
Trek to Everest base camp passes through scenic
Sherpa villages and culminates in the ascent of
Kala Patthar (5,500 m), from where classic views
of Everest and its surrounding peaks are
available. Most of the trek is spent in the
Khumbu and Imja Valleys, above the altitude of
(3,000 m), where the massive peaks of the
Eastern Himalaya dominate the skyline.
Beautiful, multi-color prayer flags, prayer
wheels and intricately stamped many stones line
every hilltop, rock wall and trail side, singing
prayers for everyone's well-being. There is
plenty of time to enjoy the culture of the
Sherpas and visit very old monasteries.
Jiri to Everest Base Camp Trek
A longer and more assorted trek to the Base Camp, which is
in fact the old Mt. Everest expedition route used on the
first successful ascent, starts from Jiri. This trek passes
through spectacular villages with exotic monasteries in
Junbeshi (2675 m) to and to Khartung which offers the first
view of Everest and host of other peaks like Thamserku (6608
m), Kantega (6779 m), Kusum Kangru (6367 m) and Mera Peak
(6654 m). Further to Traksindo Pass (3071 m) and Ringmo this
is a region less frequented and crowded by other trekkers.
The trek emerges high up in the Khumbu valley and follows
the trail to Everest Base Camp. Trek ends with a flight back
to Kathmandu.
